Greetings from RedDot Academy. It brings us great joy to continue our mission of cultivating crucial twenty-first century skills of ideation, writing and oratory. We look forward to having a great round of programmes with all our students. As many of you know, Debate, Drama and Public Speaking are an invaluable skills for young people today. They help students think critically as well as articulate our thoughts in an interesting and engaging manner.
 
Throughout our programmes, you will learn to think and speak about a variety of relevant topical issues. Here at RedDot, we will equip you with the foundational skills as well as the oratorical flair that will allow you to craft and articulate your thoughts, and to become captivating speakers.

Ian is a highly seasoned debater, being an 8-time Debate champion in competitions spanning multiple countries. Among his championship titles are the East Coast Debate Open, and the Singapore Polytechnic Debate Open. In addition, he has also made appearances in the finals of tournaments such as the Oldham Cup International Debating Competition and the The Borneo British Parliamentary Championship. He also has had an extensive history in Debate as an organiser, adjudicator, and a mentor to many. His Adjudication Experience spams countries, having judged in tournaments such as Thoburn Cup, the Malaysia National Schools British Parliamentary Competition and the Kuching Interschool Debating Championship. His passion for debate translates into his willingness and drive to educate our students into becoming better speakers and debaters. Ian believes that being outspoken and true to your ideals is not only important, but necessary in this highly volatile world.
Ian remains active in both local and international debate circuits. He also has had prior teaching coaching experience for students ranging from 9 to 18, and thoroughly enjoys educating the youth.

Justine is an experienced debater and public speaker who has won numerous national competitions in just 6 years. She has coached ages 6 and upwards for various activities and workshops. Her extensive knowledge in debate coupled with her robust personality makes her an exceptional instructor for young debaters. She aims to grow and nurture her students to become more confident while having fun. Furthermore, Justine is a seasoned actress and has been performing since Primary School. As a High School and College Theatre student, she has a strong foundation and experience in theatre, story-telling and improvisation. Combining her theatrical knowledge and experience working with young children, Justine is a trained drama instructor. She has received many awards for her contributions in the Art scene and continues to empower young minds to do the same. Justine is the winner of the 2019 Harvard Prize Book awarded by the Harvard Alumni Association, Singapore, and also has certification (Distinction) as Associate, Trinity College, London (ATCL).

Dennis has a BA (Hons) Acting from Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. He has extensive experience working in collaboration with speech professionals and with young performers. He works with varied audiences. He has been chief judge and competition trainer for speech events like the West Zone COE Junior Orators and has offered secondary and primary school teachers advise on creating engaged speaking and narration.

Natalie is a seasoned debate educator who has been involved in debate related activities for more than half her life. She has coached students from age 10-19 in public and international schools for both recreational and competitive debate for over 6 years with her speciality in primary and secondary level coaching. She has adjudicated and panel-chaired up to the break-rounds, also acting as a team manager cum adult chaperone during numerous overseas tournaments. Her teaching motto is all about making learning fun. Natalie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and a Trinity College certificate in TESOL.

Paeony Yeo is a well-rounded performer and writer with extensive experience in many different facets of theatre-making. Specialising in musical and children’s’ theatre, with strong foundations in both music and dance, she is equipped with the skillset to nurture strong, confident speakers through holistic drama education for young children and youths.
With a passion for inspiring people through the arts, Paeony is a dedicated instructor who is motivated to meaningfully enrich the lives of all her students by promoting confidence to develop a flair for public speaking and debating . She hopes that her students may grow to become assured in their presentation of self to prepare themselves for any future endeavours.

Kenneth is a seasoned international debater who represented Team Singapore in 2019 and 2020. In that time, he finished 6th and 3rd in the world respectively. He has won 4 other international championships, including Croatia’s Winter Holiday Open which is Europe’s largest debating competition. He also has won 3 national debating titles and constantly finishes within the top 3 debaters for his age group in Singapore.

Additionally, Kenneth is an avid public speaker, having been the youngest in his category to clinch the Plain English Speaking Awards which is Southeast Asia’s largest public speaking championship. Since then, he has emceed and judged at various national-level events including ACJC’s Orator’s Trophy.

Kenneth is one of the top graduates from Raffles Institution and a recipient of the Singapore Police Force Book Prize, an award handed out only to the top 20 youths nationally in academic achievement.

Kenneth believes that public speaking has the potential to transform students into more confident and intellectual versions of themselves and is excited to help them realise it.

Leejing has been coaching since 2010, and has experience coaching both novice and seasoned debaters ranging from 13-18 years old in public and international schools. She has coached teams in all 3 divisions of SSSDCs, bringing teams to the finals in Division 3 in 2012 and Division 2 in 2013. As a debater and adjudicator, she has made it to break rounds and finals on numerous occasions in the secondary school and tertiary circuit. As a former MOE teacher and MOE scholar, Leejing has a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from NIE, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from NUS.

Raemae Kok has a long history of being involved in the theatrical arts, as both an actress and a producer. With a passion for storytelling and a background in sales and events management, her goal is to inspire kids with the stories that once inspired her. Having worked in several local arts companies, she is confident in her ability to keep things running smoothly for her team. She continues to pursue her passion for theatre at Fordham University, USA with a double major in Theatre (playwriting) and Journalism.

Hui Wen has debated competitively for the past 6 years ever since she was in secondary school. She currently coaches Bedok South and Pei Tong Primary School, and CHIJ St Nicholas Girls’ School. She is currently reading law at the National University of Singapore.

Vicki has had a long history with Drama, as both performer and producer. She has the flexibility and range to address the different needs of different performances from her experience with a variety of roles and genres. Her background in the theatrical arts and sports have enabled her to creatively devise interesting performances through her novel ideas.

Vicki is an adept child educator and enjoys coaching budding speakers and performers, using her familiarity with working with young children to effectively use play as a means of learning to learn drama by channelling their excitement. She aims to ignite students’

Gareth is an experienced school’s debater who has represented Singapore 3 times and captained them twice. In that time, he led his team to a 6th and 3rd place world ranking. As well as 4 championship titles at an international level. He is also ranked more 5 times as the top 5 speakers of an international tournament. This includes ranking as the best speaker of the Asian schools online debate championships 2020 and Vancouver World Schools Debating Championships 2020.

At present, his greatest passion is passing on the critical thinking and public speaking skills he learned from debate.

Arunan read his Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Theatre Studies at Royal Holloway and subsequently completed his Master’s in Shakespeare in History at UCL. As a university student who enjoyed the benefits of being a former debater, Arunan was excited about being a debate and public speaking coach when he returned to Singapore in 2012. While being a high school teacher, Arunan has had multiple opportunities to coach debate teams from both local and international schools as well as adjudicate several debate, public speaking and oratorical events. Arunan enjoys being a debate coach because it promotes team work, turn taking and propels students to think and speak eloquently about regional and global issues- all of which prepare them for a world even beyond debate.

A law student from the University of Oxford, Chris has been involved in the Asian
debating circuit for almost a decade in the capacity of judge, speaker, coach and
convener. Amongst his numerous breaks and speaking achievements, he was most
recently a quarter-finalist at the 2017 Macau AP and grand finalist at the 2019 South
China BP Championships. As a judge, he has also broken at numerous
tournaments, judging the grand finals for the Macau Inter-tertiary DC, 9th CWSDC
and the 2020 BWDA amongst others.
He is very happy to be a part of the team, and he looks forward to sharing the joy of
debating with you!



Jonathan Yap

Jonathan is an experienced debater, coach, and adjudicator in the Singapore Debate Circuit. He was the coach for Raffles Institution (Year 5 to 6) in 2019, and formerly represented Singapore at the World Schools Debating Championships and emerged champion in 2017. He is currently pursuing a degree in Human, Social, and Political Sciences (HSPS) at the University of Cambridge.

it is a trained actor and educator who has been performing since he was young. He has worked as a Voice and Acting coach for Anglo-Chinese Junior College, a Speech and Drama instructor for D’Artistes and a Poetry Slam Teacher for Word Forward. As an actor, Jit has performed in multiple productions in theatre, film and television. Currently, he appears as Ishmael in HBO-Asia’s Invisible Stories and Gerald in Toggle’s Last Madame. He played the lead role as Kamal in Foreign Object, which won Best Film for nuStudio’s Point and Shoot 2019. His theatre credits include playing Abhijeet in Adventures of Abhijeet (Patch and Punnet) for the M1 Singapore Fringe Festival 2019, James in Dating Simulation (ATTEMPTS) at Centre 42, Cupid in Stupid Cupid (Patch and Punnet), Boon in Boom (The Callbacks), Father in The Short Straw (ACT 3 Theatrics), the lead entertainer in Cupid’s Theatre (Patch and Punnet) at the Singapore Arts Museum and King Henry in Henry V (LASALLE College of the Arts). Jit attained a Bachelor’s degree in Acting at LASALLE College of the Arts and is currently pursuing his MA in Theatre at Accademia Teatro Dimitri in Verscio, Switzerland.

Jit Ping was first introduced to debates in 2011 and has never looked back ever since. As a debater, he was part of the team that won the Singapore Secondary Schools Debating Championships, clinching the top individual speaker award as well. Jit Ping then continued his debating career with the Singapore National Team, with his team ending their run as semi-finalist in WSDC 2018. Having been thrown into the lion’s den at a young age to judge university debates, Jit Ping is an experienced judge as well. He is excited to help groom the next generation of debaters, just as the seniors before him helped contribute to his own development.

As an actress herself, Yan Ning has a strong foundation and personal experience in theatre. She has a background in dance and believes in the outside-to-inside approach in theatre, using physicality as a means to channel her emotions into the performance, which is how she mentors her students to become better performers.

Yan Ning is especially interested in using different cultures in her performances and experimenting with them in performance and devising. In addition, through her experience in Children’s Theatre, she understands what excites her students’ imagination, allowing her to nurture creative minds and become more self-assured in their identity and expression of themselves.

Sneha Sanjay is a trained theatre practitioner in both performative and educational capacities. She is a final year Theatre Studies & Business Management student at NUS and a Yale Visiting International Student’s Program (Y-VISP) scholar. As a Creative and Performing Arts award recipient with Yale University, Sneha not only helmed multiple shows as lead actress, but was also invited to stage a theatrical production as director. Locally, she has also performed and devised a wide range of works both in school and professionally. Sneha’s theatre training and oratorical skills also landed her numerous emceeing stints, both externally and at high-profile events within NUS. She also used to be a competitive public speaker in her earlier school years.
Sneha has also independently conducted various theatre-based workshops for university-level students. Additionally, having previously worked as a lead trainer at a neuro-educational institute, Sneha has coached students as young as 4, using process-theatre methodology.

She also has a background in devising, cultural theatre, and children’s theatre, which equips her with the necessary tools to educate our younger drama students. Furthermore, Sarah has conducted both overseas and local workshops to teach both young children and older youths.

With her holistic theatrical knowledge and passion to teach the youths, Sarah is a practised drama instructor that is able to effectively instil both the necessary performance skills and her love of theatre into her students.

His experience in guiding companies of actors on numerous occasions combined with his dynamic personality enables him to capture his students’ attention and teach effective drama techniques. Josef believes that drama is necessary to push students to not only embrace their on-stage roles but to become comfortable in their own skin as well.

Josef is also an orator, having emceed numerous public events. His prior theatrical and speech record enables him to train communication skills. He finds that flexibility is an indispensable quality for actors and speakers of all levels and uses this to centre his lessons.

Royston uses comedy to inspire young students to get out of their comfort zone and become confident actors and actresses. He believes that every student has the potential to become a great performer and uses this mindset to further inspire his students to be the best that they can be.

Royston is also a writer and was a youth creator for the Singapore Writers Festival. With his experience in speech, writing, and drama, Royston is able to uplift young minds to do the same.

Mary Ann is based in Singapore as the SEA Drama and Performance Consultant for Trinity College London. She has conducted many workshops and seminars for teachers all over the world and continues to direct and lecture at NAFA, SOTA and Laselle in Singapore.

Mary Ann has been the voice coach for the ACJC Drama Elective Programme (DEP) since 2014. She was voice coach to the Singapore Schools Debating Team who won the World Schools Competition in 2015 and 2017 – she continues to train communicators and debaters with an emphasis on Voice Care.

Sam is a professional debate and oratory coach working full time with schools such as Raffles Institution and Anglo-Chinese Junior College. He also regularly conducts training and workshops on debate, public speaking, negotiation, and model UN activities with a wide range of schools and institution in Singapore and abroad. Sam attended Harvard University on a Public Service Commission Overseas Merit Scholarship and has previously worked in the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Law. Sam was also the Captain of the Singapore National Team for WSDC 2000, WSDC Adjudicator for Singapore in 2012 & 2015 and part of the WSDC organisational Committee in 2015. He has guided debaters and orators to over 30 championship titles, including international competitions such as the Asian World Schools Debating Championships; the Prometheus Cup and the Winter Holiday Open WSDC 2019.

Raemae Kok has a long history of being involved in the theatrical arts, as both an actress and a producer. With a passion for storytelling and a background in sales and events management, her goal is to inspire kids with the stories that once inspired her. A law student from the University of Oxford, Chris has been involved in the Asian
debating circuit for almost a decade in the capacity of judge, speaker, coach and
convener. Amongst his numerous breaks and speaking achievements, he was most
recently a quarter-finalist at the 2017 Macau AP and grand finalist at the 2019 South
China BP Championships. As a judge, he has also broken at numerous
tournaments, judging the grand finals for the Macau Inter-tertiary DC, 9th CWSDC
and the 2020 BWDA amongst others.

Sneha Sanjay is a trained theatre practitioner in both performative and educational capacities. She is a final year Theatre Studies & Business Management student at NUS and a Yale Visiting International Student’s Program (Y-VISP) scholar. As a Creative and Performing Arts award recipient with Yale University, Sneha not only helmed multiple shows as lead actress, but was also invited to stage a theatrical production as director. Locally, she has also performed and devised a wide range of works both in school and professionally. Sneha’s theatre training and oratorical skills also landed her numerous emceeing stints, both externally and at high-profile events within NUS. She also used to be a competitive public speaker in her earlier school years.
Sneha has also independently conducted various theatre-based workshops for university-level students. Additionally, having previously worked as a lead trainer at a neuro-educational institute, Sneha has coached students as young as 4, using process-theatre methodology.

Aside from his extensive drama education and experience, Royston is an accredited public speaker, having multiple awards and championships under his belt. Royston uses comedy to inspire young students to get out of their comfort zone and become confident actors and actresses. He believes that every student has the potential to become a great performer and uses this mindset to further inspire his students to be the best that they can be.

Royston is also a writer and was a youth creator for the Singapore Writers Festival. With his experience in speech, writing, and drama, Royston is able to uplift young minds to do the same.

Kenneth is a seasoned international debater who represented Team Singapore in 2019 and 2020. In that time, he finished 6th and 3rd in the world respectively. He has won 4 other international championships, including Croatia’s Winter Holiday Open which is Europe’s largest debating competition. He also has won 3 national debating titles and constantly finishes within the top 3 debaters for his age group in Singapore.

Additionally, Kenneth is an avid public speaker, having been the youngest in his category to clinch the Plain English Speaking Awards which is Southeast Asia’s largest public speaking championship. Since then, he has emceed and judged at various national-level events including ACJC’s Orator’s Trophy.

Kenneth is one of the top graduates from Raffles Institution and a recipient of the Singapore Police Force Book Prize, an award handed out only to the top 20 youths nationally in academic achievement.

Arunan read his Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Theatre Studies at Royal Holloway and subsequently completed his Master’s in Shakespeare in History at UCL. As a university student who enjoyed the benefits of being a former debater, Arunan was excited about being a debate and public speaking coach when he returned to Singapore in 2012. While being a high school teacher, Arunan has had multiple opportunities to coach debate teams from both local and international schools as well as adjudicate several debate, public speaking and oratorical events. Jit Ping was first introduced to debates in 2011 and has never looked back ever since. As a debater, he was part of the team that won the Singapore Secondary Schools Debating Championships, clinching the top individual speaker award as well. Having been thrown into the lion’s den at a young age to judge university debates, Jit Ping is an experienced judge as well. Devin Kay is a professional educator with more than 25 years of teaching experience in the United States and overseas. He is currently a teacher at Singapore American School (SAS) where he has had the pleasure of working with and mentoring students who consistently go on to attend some of the top universities in the world, particularly in the United States. He holds a Master’s degree in curriculum and instruction and a social studies teaching certification for grades 6-12. He is the professional learning community leader for a team of Advanced Placement history teachers who successfully prepare students for the annual College Board AP U.S. History exam. He is also best known as the architect and head coach of the SAS high school debate program. Under his coordination and coaching, the school has won the Interscholastic Association of Southeast Asia Schools debate championships five times since 2012.

This includes ranking as the best speaker of the Asian schools online debate championships 2020 and Vancouver World Schools Debating Championships 2020.

In addition, he has also made appearances in the finals of tournaments such as the Oldham Cup International Debating Competition and the The Borneo British Parliamentary Championship. He also has had an extensive history in Debate as an organiser, adjudicator, and a mentor to many. His passion for debate translates into his willingness and drive to educate our students into becoming better speakers and debaters.
